3 Days Naran & Saif-ul-Malook Tour

3 days / 2 nightsIslamabad – Balakot – Shogran – Naran – Saif-ul-Malook – IslamabadMax 20 peopleMay to OctoberEasyMax altitude 3,224 m at Saif-ul-Malook

The classic short trip — Balakot, Shogran and the jeep up to Saif-ul-Malook.

Overview

The shortest real mountain trip from Islamabad and the one most people do first. Seven hours of driving puts you at Naran on the Kunhar river, and a jeep from there takes you up to Saif-ul-Malook at 3,224 m.

Three days covers Naran and the lake properly, with Shogran and the Siri Paye meadows on the way. It does not include Babusar Top — that needs a fourth day, and our 4-day package has it.

This is our most family-friendly itinerary. Short driving legs, moderate altitude, and nothing that requires walking far.

Trip highlights

  • Saif-ul-Malook Lake by jeep from Naran
  • Shogran and the Siri Paye meadows
  • Balakot and the Kunhar river
  • Kaghan valley and Batakundi

Frequently asked questions

Is 3 days enough for Naran?

For Naran and Saif-ul-Malook, yes. For Babusar Top and Lulusar Lake, no — take our 4-day package.

Is the jeep to Saif-ul-Malook included?

Yes, and so is the Siri Paye jeep. Most operators charge these separately at the trailhead. We include them and say so on the page.

When does Naran open?

The road to Naran usually opens in May and stays open to October. Babusar, further up, opens later — around late June.

Is this good for young children?

It is the best starting point we sell. Short drives, no walking required, and you are never more than a few hours from a hospital.

How cold is it?

Naran is 10–20 °C in the day even in July and single digits at night. Saif-ul-Malook at 3,224 m is colder and windy. Bring a jacket whatever the month.
