5 Days Hunza Valley Tour from Islamabad

5 Days Hunza Valley Tour from Islamabad

5 days / 4 nightsIslamabad – Chilas – Karimabad – Passu – Chilas – IslamabadMax 20 peopleApril to OctoberEasyMax altitude 2,800 m at Duikar

Two full days in the valley, with Attabad, Passu and the Karimabad forts.

Overview

This is the shortest honest trip to Hunza. Five days gets you two full days in the valley itself — enough for Attabad Lake, Passu, Baltit and Altit forts, and sunrise at Duikar — with two long travel days at either end.

Be clear about what that means before you book: you will spend roughly 36 of the 120 hours on the road. It is a real trip and we run it every week in season. If you can find a sixth day, our 6-day version adds Khunjerab Pass without adding any pressure.

It suits couples, friend groups and solo travellers. It is not ideal for children under six, or for anyone who struggles with long drives.

Trip highlights

  • Attabad Lake, formed by the 2010 landslide
  • Passu Cones and the Passu glacier viewpoint
  • Hussaini Suspension Bridge
  • Baltit Fort (700 years old) and Altit Fort
  • Sunrise over Rakaposhi from Duikar
  • Rakaposhi View Point at Ghulmat
  • The Karakoram Highway through the Indus gorges

Frequently asked questions

Is 5 days enough for Hunza?

It is enough to see Hunza itself properly — two full days in the valley. It is not enough to add Khunjerab Pass or Naltar Valley; those need our 6-day and 7-day packages.

How much of the trip is driving?

About 36 hours across five days, mostly on days 1 and 5. We tell you this before you book because the complaint we hear about other operators is always the same: nobody told them.

Can a solo female traveller join this group?

Yes. Solo female travellers are matched with same-gender room-mates on quad and triple sharing at no extra cost, and several departures each month carry a female coordinator. Ask us which ones.

Will my phone work?

Jazz and Zong work patchily up to Chilas. Inside Gilgit-Baltistan only SCOM works reliably, and hotels have wifi. Buy a SCOM SIM in Gilgit if you need to stay reachable.

Are there ATMs in Hunza?

There are ATMs in Gilgit and Aliabad but they run out of cash. Carry enough for the whole trip.

What about altitude sickness?

Karimabad is at 2,500 m, which almost nobody reacts to, and this package does not go above 2,800 m. We carry oxygen regardless.

What if the road closes?

Landslides happen on the KKH. If a closure changes the itinerary we adjust the route and tell you immediately. Our cancellation policy covers what happens if a trip cannot run at all.
