About Musafir Tours

We started in 2018 with one Toyota Coaster, a route to Hunza, and a specific complaint: too many people were arriving in our valleys on trips that had been sold to them dishonestly.

What we were trying to fix

If you grew up in Gilgit-Baltistan you watched it happen every summer. A family arrives in Karimabad at eleven at night, exhausted, because nobody told them the drive from Islamabad is eighteen hours. A group discovers at the Saif-ul-Malook trailhead that the jeep is an extra four thousand rupees. Somebody books a “3-star hotel” and finds out on arrival what that meant.

None of that is complicated to fix. You state the driving hours. You include the jeep in the price. You name the hotel. We built Musafir Tours around doing those three things consistently, and most of what is on this website follows from them.

Where we are from

Our founding team is from Hunza and the Kaghan valley. Our drivers are Karakoram Highway specialists who have run that road for years rather than seasons, and our guides in Karimabad and Skardu live in those towns. When we say a pass might be closed on your dates, that is not a guess from an office in Islamabad — it is a phone call to somebody who can see it.

Where we are now

640+ trips and 7,800+ travellers later, we run fixed departures to eleven destinations, private and family tours on any dates, trekking trips up to K2 base camp, and a growing honeymoon business we did not plan for. Our office is at I-8 Markaz, Islamabad, and we are a registered tour operator, licence DTS/ICT/2018/0000.

We are still small, and we intend to stay small enough that the person who plans your trip is the person who answers when you call from the road.

What we will not do

• Sell a three-day Hunza trip. It is 36 hours of driving out of 72.
• Advertise a headline price that nothing actually sells for.
• Promise snow, brown bears, or a flight to Skardu that PIA has not confirmed.
• Change your hotel without telling you.
