2 Days Murree & Galiyat Weekend Trip

2 Days Murree & Galiyat Weekend Trip

2 days / 1 nightsIslamabad – Murree – Patriata – Nathia Gali – Ayubia – IslamabadMax 20 peopleAll year — snow December to FebruaryEasyMax altitude 2,400 m at Nathia Gali

Two days, one night, and the easiest mountain air in the country.

Overview

The weekend trip. Leave Islamabad on Saturday morning, sleep in Nathia Gali, walk the Pipeline Track on Sunday, and be home for dinner. No annual leave, no twelve-hour drives, and real mountain air at 2,400 m.

Experienced travellers are sniffy about Murree. They are missing the point. For a first family trip, a first snowfall, or a two-day break, nothing in Pakistan is this accessible — and the Galiyat ridge above Murree is genuinely lovely forest.

We base in Nathia Gali rather than Murree itself. It is forty minutes further and a completely different experience: quieter, greener, and no traffic on the Mall.

Trip highlights

  • Nathia Gali and the Galiyat pine forest
  • The Pipeline Track — a flat 4 km forest walk anyone can do
  • Patriata (New Murree) chairlift and cable car
  • Ayubia National Park
  • Murree Mall Road
  • Snow, from December to February

Frequently asked questions

Will there be snow?

Usually between late December and February, heaviest in January. It varies year to year and we do not guarantee it on any date. Anyone who does is guessing.

Why Nathia Gali and not Murree?

Nathia Gali is forty minutes further, considerably quieter, and surrounded by forest rather than traffic. We still visit Murree — we just do not sleep there.

How hard is the Pipeline Track?

Four kilometres and essentially flat, on a made path. Children and grandparents both manage it. It takes about 90 minutes at a gentle pace.

Is the road ever closed?

In heavy snowfall the Murree expressway is closed on police orders. We monitor it and reschedule rather than sending a group into a closure.

Can we do this as a private family trip?

Yes, and for a family of four or more it often costs about the same. Ask us for a private quote.
