Every trip that visits Murree & Galiyat, whatever its length or style.

Two days, one night, and the easiest mountain air in the country.
Murree and the Galiyat are the weekend north — an hour from Islamabad, three to four from Lahore, and open all year. Experienced travellers are sniffy about Murree, and they are missing the point: for a two-day family trip, or a first winter snowfall, nothing else in the country is this accessible.
The better part is the Galiyat, the ridge running from Ayubia to Nathia Gali at around 2,300 m, under old pine and oak forest. The Pipeline Track from Ayubia to Dunga Gali is a flat four-kilometre forest walk that anyone can do. Mukshpuri and Miranjani are proper half-day climbs with views to Nanga Parbat on a clear day.
Two things to plan for. Murree in snow season is heavily congested and the road can be closed at short notice — travel midweek and start early. And Nathia Gali is noticeably quieter and more pleasant than Murree itself, so we base most trips there.
Usually late December through February, with the heaviest falls in January. It is unpredictable year to year. We do not guarantee snow on any date, and we say so before you book.
Yes, at weekends and in snow season. Travel midweek if you can, and consider basing in Nathia Gali instead — it is 40 minutes further and a completely different experience.
It is the best starting point in the country. Short drive, moderate altitude, plenty to do, and easy to turn back if a child is unwell.
The Murree expressway is closed to traffic when snowfall is heavy, on police orders. We monitor this and will reschedule rather than send a group into a closure.
