5 Days Hunza Valley Tour from Islamabad
Two full days in the valley, with Attabad, Passu and the Karimabad forts.

Along the river to Sharda and Kel, then the chairlift and climb to Arang Kel.
Neelum Valley is the closest real mountain valley to Lahore and the most underrated in the country. The road runs 200 km northeast from Muzaffarabad along the river, with the Line of Control on the far bank for most of it.
Four days gets you to Arang Kel, which is what people come for — a village on a shelf at 2,700 m, reached by chairlift across the river from Kel and then a steep 45 to 60 minute climb. Horses are available for the climb.
The road is narrow throughout and the upper sections are jeep territory, so this is a trip where the vehicle and driver matter more than the hotel.
Every day states its route, its driving hours and its altitude, so nothing about this trip is a surprise on the road.
Islamabad → Muzaffarabad → Kutton → Keran
Through Muzaffarabad and up the Neelum river road. Keran sits directly across the river from the Line of Control — an unusual place to have dinner.
Keran → Dowarian → Sharda
A shorter day up the valley to Sharda, with stops along the river. Afternoon at the Sharda Peeth ruins and the old bridge.
Sharda → Kel → chairlift → Arang Kel → Kel
Up to Kel in the morning, then the chairlift across the river and the climb to Arang Kel. The village sits on a green shelf with the valley dropping away below it, and it is worth every step.
Note The climb is steep. Horses are available at the top station for around PKR 1,500. Not suitable for anyone with knee problems.
Kel → Sharda → Muzaffarabad → Islamabad
The long drive back down the valley. Arrival in Islamabad in the evening.

Chairlift across the river, then 45 to 60 minutes uphill on a stepped path. Horses are available. Most reasonably fit people manage it; it is not suitable for anyone with knee problems or for very small children.
Pakistani nationals need CNIC and are registered at several army checkposts along the road. Foreign nationals need a permit arranged in advance — tell us at booking and we handle it.
The valley has been open and quiet for years, and the road is used daily by residents and visitors. Our itinerary keeps to the established route and our drivers know the checkpost procedure.
Patchy. SCOM and Jazz work in the larger villages. Above Kel, assume nothing works.
Yes, but it needs a fifth day — it is a three-hour jeep from Dowarian plus a 45-minute walk, starting at dawn. Ask us for the 5-day version.
Questions about dates, fitness, children or hotels — we answer them properly.

Two full days in the valley, with Attabad, Passu and the Karimabad forts.

The complete Hunza trip — the valley, the border pass and Naltar's coloured lakes.

Private vehicle, valley-view rooms and nobody else on the itinerary.
